Mormon Mom Planner by In The Leafy Treetops

November 29, 2017 0 Comments

For as long as I can remember, I have kept track of my schedule in a notebook, planner, or calendar. I'm also an avid note-taker. I kept journals growing up, and always made sure to track my children's progress in their baby book. When I go somewhere where information is given, such as church, something work-related, or IEP meetings, I always take my notebook and nice pen. Here is where my planners come in. My planner is another great way for me to keep notes and ideas, in one place and to keep track of my busy schedule. The contentment I feel after being able to jot down home/sports/school/church events for myself and our kids, and also my work schedule, is one of the best thing ever! It makes me feel like I can breathe better. A huge weight off my shoulders. Organization = perfection! I have been following the planner community for a while, and have started to fall in love with a few different brands.

Melinda Christensen is the face behind In The Leafy Treetops and the brilliant idea of the original Mormon Mom Planner. She is an LDS mother of 6 little ones. After trial and error, and many revisions to her own journal + schedule + planner - a three-ring binder in the beginning - she finally managed to perfect a journal-writing, schedule-keeping, list-making, idea-storing, lesson-planning, family-organizing planner.

Recently, I was sent a 2018 Mormon Mom Planner & some adorable accessories to review, and boy, am I excited to share with you this amazing creation!

Right out of the package, I noticed the awesome spiral-bound, full-color pages, heavy duty cover, and thick tabs that make it easy to navigate. There are plenty of places to write down everything you'd possibly need to and sprinkled with a beautiful collection of inspirational quotes tucked amongst the coordinating colors and patterns. Sitting at 6” by 9” and 1.25 inches thick, this planner includes everything a mom could possibly need. I don't want to miss anything, so I've included the list of what the Mormon Mom Planner entails, according to the In The Leafy Treetops website:

Year at a glance calendars

A Few of my Favorite Things page - lets you keep track of what makes you unique. Also included is the 'Year in Review' page where you can record highlights of the year that you want to be sure to remember.

Scripture Reading Charts for all of the Standard Works

Visiting Teaching Pages to help you remember and keep track of the sisters you visit

Holiday Planning Pages (Traditional U.S. Holidays such as New Year's, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas

Financial Management Sheet for getting out of debt, tithing, and savings plans

Thank you card tracker

Monthly Planner (unique and simple) with squares large enough for any handwriting, notes column, and a mini preview calendar of the next two months.

Year in Review spread

Quotes and scriptures to inspire you throughout the year

Note pages (2-3 pages at the end of each monthly section)

Back to School planning pages

Summer planning pages

Monthly Planning Matrix (versatile spread to use how you would like, i.e. exercise, meal planning, shopping lists, work, gratitude, etc.)

Family Night Planning pages help you keep track of assignments and be deliberate in your preparation, as well as a notes section for family council items

Additional note pages at the end of each month with a grid pattern

The Home & Family section has it's very own tab, and is exclusive to the Mormon Mom Planner.

It includes:

Together Forever – a spread dedicated to your marriage.

“All About Me” page

Child Tracking pages to keep track of everything from shoe sizes to present ideas for their next birthday.

Family Ideals and Goals, including plans for chores and housework

Financial Management and Debt-elimination

Emergency Preparedness

Home maintenance and cleaning schedule

Vacation planning sheet including a packing list and meal planning

The Mormon Mom Planner isn't the only one available from In The Leafy Treetops. There are several other planners and a wide assortment of products available for purchase.

Similar to the Mormon Mom Planner, minus the “Mom” part. This planner has everything the Mormon Mom Planner has – with the exception of the Home & Family pages or the Family Home Evening Sections. It's perfect for any LDS woman who doesn't yet have kids or is now an empty-nester.

• Simple
Same easy-to-use design, and about ¼ inch thinner than the Mormon Mom version, this is a non-denominational planner. It still has all the other goodies, but doesn't include the Family Home Evening pages, Sunday pages, Home & Family section, pages for tracking scripture reading, or the scripture quotes throughout the pages. Perfect for anyone – but especially for mom's who want a smaller planner that's easier to tuck anywhere, someone who likes simple planning without extras, college student, teenagers, or empty-nesters to name a few.

Exactly what is says – a horizontal version of the Mormon Mom Planner, so it has a left-to-right spread thanks to the wide boxes. Giving a different look and feel as well as a tad more space for the weekly sections. Weeks in the Horizontal planner start on Monday, rather than Sunday.

•  Mom-On-The-Go
This one is a super functional, non-denominational, though still Christian-based planner. So Bible reading charts, inspirational quotes, emphasis on the importance of Home & Family, the daily checklists for prayer, notes, menu-planning, as well as inspirations. Since it isn't LDS-based, there aren't Family Home Evening pages or Sunday lesson pages with LDS curriculum.

I think this is a fantastic idea! In The Leafy Treetops offers an unbound, unpunched version of the Mormon Mom Planner. Meaning – you can punch the pages to work with “any a5 notebook, Franklin, Websters or disc bound system”! How cool is that?!
At $4.99, the thick and durable laminate bookmarks make marking your spot easy! 5 beautiful designs to choose from.

Currently selling for $5.00, the band stampers are a fun, quick, and easy way to add commonly-used words and phrases to your planners pages!

Kidecals!

October 11, 2014 0 Comments

When I was asked by Kidecals to review their fantastic labels, I was pretty excited! I love labels. They’re the best for organizing things. Keeping track of things that belong to our family and kids tend to lose. Keeping my sanity with things in our pantry or my craft supplies. Soooo many aspects of my life! I think a regular plain Jane label in general is awesome. However, Kidecals? They are the Ferrari of labels!

• Waterproof - meaning, yes, they can get wet. What kind of regular, printed-at-home label doesn’t get ruined completely with merely DRIPS of water, right? These are SO much better than those!

• Washing machine, dryer and dishwasher safe - wait, what?! You mean the kids’ sippy cups can have a personalized and oh-so-colorful label slapped on them and STILL go into the dishwasher?! CHECK

My kids’ soccer socks or jerseys or even soon-to-be-baby’s cloth diapers can be LABELED and WASHED and label stays intact?! Fantastically awesome!

We have been using our labels for about 8 weeks now, and I have not had the edge of ONE peel up. They are on EVERYTHING. Each of our soccer/outdoor balls (we have 7). Bikes so they don't ever go missing from the neighborhood. Soccer cleats. Shin guards. Baby carrier. My Nikon and carrying bag. My Petunia Pickle Bottom diaper bag and matching wipes case. Even the bottom of my MacBook has one. I wish I hadn't been dumb and ordered WATERPROOF address labels, because I don't like wasting them on boring envelopes. But I will tell you what, ANYTHING that gets left behind at a soccer game (favorite water bottle or a lone shin guard), dropped at the mall (daughter's stuffed animal), or left at church (books, sippy cup, or one of my son's beloved GeoTrax trains) we will have the item returned if the person who finds it takes the steps to mail it back or look me up on Facebook. I have an address label with contact info slapped onto the side of my daughters car seat (hidden out of view, so hopefully in the event of an accident, a police officer or firefighter will think to look under the fabric!)

My favorite place that I have a label stuck, that gets the most wear and tear out of all of them, however, has to be on my dogs collar. Yes, she already has an address tag, but it's a scan-able one from PetHub and is scuffed, so thank goodness for Kidecals, who provide labels that are water proof, dirt proof, dog-playing-in-the-mud and scratching-her-neck proof! It's been on her collar for about 7 weeks, and it's not showing ANY signs of coming off.

My next purchase with Kidecals will most definitely be labels for all the dry baking goods and some individualized labels for each of my four kids.

Kidecals doesn't stop there! They offer a wide variety of other labels that will blow you away with not only their durability, but their beauty! They are colorful, quirky, and unique. You'll be the talk of the town! Decorate your home with their Wall Decals or Chalkboard Labels. Organize your life. Prevent a bad allergic reaction with the Allergy Alert labels, or add some fun to your life with some Mustache Madness labels!

Send your kid to school with his/her own unique, personalized labels.
Gift a set of snazzy Keyboard Stickers to your sister or friend.

As an avid cinnamon-flavoring LOVER, I have eaten and liked many different cinnamon flavored everything: hard candies, suckers, bears, gum, and Salt Water Taffy. Nothing, and I do mean nothing (with the exception of if somebody were to lick the lid of cinnamon flavoring oil), comes even CLOSE to being as delicious, chewy, and best of all: HOT and CINNAMON-Y as Jelly Belly Unbearably Hot Cinnamon Bears! They're my new addiction. After a trip to your Chicago factory 3 weeks ago, where I purchased two bags, I discovered and ate these bears for the first time. I'm hooked. Where have they been my whole life?! Jelly Belly has created a product that not only tastes perfectly wonderful, but is packaged fabulously and is a reasonable price too!

Bonnie Lee Designs

You wouldn't believe how beautiful the strip of fabric that I got in the mail a few days ago is! What is it, you're probably asking... Well... let me tell you!

I received a camera strap cover from Bonnie at Bonnie Lee Designs. I absolutely love it! It is made of high quality, intricate and oh-so-beautiful fabric. (The fabric is from the Michael Miller line and it's called Carnival Bloom.) I LOVE how unique my camera is now! It's no longer boring with it's yellow-lettered NIKON sprawled across the woven black strap. Instead, it's full of a chocolate brown based fabric, with a splash of gorgeously colored flowers! Pink! I love pink! Yellow! Green! All sorts of them. I am confident, that thanks to Bonnie's fabulous stitching job, it's not going to come apart on me for a VERY long time, and if it does, it will only be because I use my camera even more than I did before to flaunt the gorgeous fabric that's adorning it.

Bonnie was so much fun to work with, I found her on Etsy. She has a shop there, called SugarPlumBaby. Not only does Bonnie make and sell the beautiful camera strap covers, she also makes lens bags for your Digital SLR, photo props, burp cloths, bibs, and scarves, just to name a few. I am so stoked over my new camera strap cover, and as soon as I get a second lens to go with my Nikon, I am totally purchasing a new lens bag! :)

Bonnie is having a Mother's Day sale at her Etsy shop so make sure you go check it out. They're offering free shipping until May 10th.

You can get a sleeve for your DSLR just like mine here.

Bonnie of Bonnie Lee Designs/SugarPlumBaby is a fast, efficient, totally-truthfull seller. I would recommend her products to anyone!

Haute Mamma!

February 18, 2009 0 Comments
Have you ever been at the park, clicked with a woman who's children happen to be newly-made best friends with your child(ren) and wanted to exchange information? Then you also, have probably dug through half-eaten tootsie rolls, 2 diapers, a pacifier, 3 toy cars, a snot-covered baby wipe and 1 chewed piece of gum in your disorganized purse-gone-diaper-bag only to come up with a Kiddie Kandids coupon and a dead pen. Well, never again will that happen to you! Once you own a set of the cutest, funky and totally fabulous mommy calling cards from hautemammas.com. Made of high-quality cardstock (with rounded corners too!) these cards are sure to impress.

Tiffany at Haute Mammas sent me a package full of all sorts of fabulous goodies to try out. There are SO many products available from Haute Mammas, you're bound to fall in love with even just one of the items on the site. I fell in love with nearly everything! They're completely customizable, so they're YOUR creation. Can I just tell you I cannot WAIT until 2011! Why, you ask? Well, that's when my son, Beckham will be in Kindergarten. I'll be able to send him to school with the cutest, "hautest", absolutely unique permission slips! Can't wait! The gift labels are so fun too, that your gift at the next party you attend will stand out among the rest of those boring "Happy Birthday!" cards!

Whether it's a Thank You card you're looking for, or some truly special and oh-so-unique address labels, Haute Mammas is the place to go!

Happy feet = one happy mama!

January 16, 2009 1 Comments
I recently used Tip Toes by Foot Petals... they were amazing! I put them into my fave new pair of heels (you have a pair like them too... you know, the ones that you LOVE, they're adorable, but they KILL your feet???) I recommend them to all my lady friends! Whether you're wearing 4 inch heels or plain and simple ballet flats... Foot Petals are definitely for you! (And the women in your life!)

Here's a little bit from the website to give you an idea of what they are and how they work: Step in style with these flower-shaped ball-of-foot cushions and go from working all day to dancing the night away! Virtually invisible in all of your shoes, Tip Toes help prevent calluses from forming, protect bones and tissue, and cushion the sensitive ball-of-foot area. Try them with your hosiery to stop runs and prevent slipping and sliding. Make sure you check out their website: www.footpetals.com!
